Learning Objectives

  • 1. Discuss Integrative Medicine as an evidence based medical specialty, and explain the difference between integrative and traditional care models. (MK5, MK6) 2. Describe the root causes of disease, lifestyle, and nutritional interventions for both prevention and treatment. (MK7) 3. Demonstrate basic tools of Integrative Medicine, including motivational interviewing, introduction of mindfulness, and discuss referrals to credentialed practitioners of adjunctive services such as acupuncture, massage, chiropractic, and naturopathy. (ICS1, ICS2, MK4, MK6) 4. Analyze the physiology of GI, neuro, endocrine, cardiology as it relates to root cause etiology of disease. (MK2) 5. Identify botanicals, supplements, and their principles of use and safety. (MK4, MK5, MK6) 6. Discuss the ethics of Integrative Medicine, boundaries of care, and patient safety. (P3) 7. Practice self-care behaviors and strategies for reducing stress in the workplace and at home. (PBLI4)

Assessment

Assessment will be by clinical observation and discussions with faculty.

Activities

Hours are Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm. No weekends or call.
