2021-2022 Elective Title: 93UR740 — GENDER AFFIRMATION SURGERY
Patient care (both inpatient and outpatient) in urologic diagnosis and management, operative experience and bedside rounds on inpatients, with follow-up and treatment outpatient contacts comprise the major effort. Low ratio of student to instructor makes lecture quite informal. Students will primarily rotate with Urology, OBGYN and Plastic Surgery to receive a wide range of exposure to gender affirmation surgery. Students will also rotate with family medicine in the Gender Health Clinic to gain exposure to all aspects of gender affirming care.

- 1) Evaluate patients with gender dysphoria seeking surgical intervention in an outpatient setting (PC1)
- 2) Participate in both outpatient and inpatient care of surgical patients with gender dysporia, including the evaluation, surgical procedures, and postoperative management (PC1, PC3, PC4, PC5, MK4, MK6)

Students will be expected to work with multiple surgical sub specialists in Urology, OBGYN, and plastics surgery providing care to transgender and gender non-conforming patients in inpatient, outpatient and surgical settings. Students will also rotate in the Gender Health Clinic to gain exposure to medical management of these patients on days when there are no gender affirmation surgeries or clinics. Schedule will vary by week depending on the clinical workloads of the various physicians.
